由于红砂岩在不同季节的含水量不同，对光的吸收和折射率也不一样， 因此甘泉大峡谷一年四季会显示不同的色彩。特别是动态的色彩和细腻的微景观，将甘泉大峡谷的生命气息展现在游客面前，具有极高的地质研究和旅游开发价值，被誉为“世界活丹霞，中国梦之谷”。
